A family wedding on Kaua'i.

Mark started working at the Lihue airport in July 2019. A few month later, I (Hope) started working there. The first time we hung out was on Halloween night at Cafe Portofino with a group of friends. Then, Mark started hosting game nights at his place and invited me to join. We would have game nights weekly to bi-weekly. In 2020, when Covid happened, our work separated people into teams. Luckily, we were on the same team throughout the whole pandemic. During that time, we spent a lot of time together. We would see each other almost daily going on hikes, to the beach, and hanging out at each other’s houses. While on a trip to Oahu, Mark asked me out and I said “no”, thinking it was a joke. People at work were always telling us to date each other.

We always thought we wouldn’t date each other due to certain differences. But all the times we hung out with each other, whether it was in groups or just the two of us, we suddenly found ourselves falling in love.

Eventually, Mark asked me out again but made sure I knew he was serious. This time I said “yes”. After a year of dating, Mark proposed to me at my parents’ house. And of course, I said “yes”. As we got closer and closer with one another, we never got tired of each other.

On January 23rd, 2023, we got married at the Kauai Courthouse by Judge Watanabe. 2 1/2 weeks later, on February 10th, 2023, we had our beautiful wedding ceremony and reception in front of family and friends.

We are excited to start this new adventure together.
